Home We have fun!

We guess you could say that "FUN" describes most of our activities! Basically, we have two types of activities: Nation's events and individual tribal events. In every case, fathers and children gather together to build relationships and strengthen bonds, to communicate and learn, to support our communities, and to have fun.

Nation's events: Throughout the year, the Cheerio Nation sponsors Nation's events that include all of our tribes. Fathers, sons, and daughters enjoy fun activities, such as our annual Halloween Hayride and our Pinewood Derby racing extravaganza. The Cheerio Nation also participates in community service projects to support those in need in our community. Those include our annual Bowl-A-Thon to benefit the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization and our holiday bell-ringing activities for The Salvation Army. Perhaps our most-anticipated Nation's events are our PowWows, held separately for Y-Princesses and Y-Guides, at the Y's Camp Cheerio in North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains. PowWows are held each fall and spring, providing fathers and their children with a great weekend camping experience that combines fun, learning, skill-building, and lots of good food and camaraderie. To find out about scheduled Nation's events, check our calendar.

Tribal events: In addition to our Nation's events, each tribe in the Cheerio Nation plans its own activities and events, geared toward the interests of its members and supporting the goals of the program. Those activities may include canoeing, roller skating, hiking, horseback riding, cookouts, golfing, rafting, fishing, baseball games, movies, snow skiing, swimming, crafts, picnics, museums, volunteerism -- and much, much more! Typically, each tribe plans one tribal activity per month during the school year. (Occasionally, tribes will plan summer activities, but most take a short hiatus during the summer vacation.)
